Chrysler Repair: 1996 Dodge Ram 318 A/C, compressor clutch, dodge ram

Question
I have a 96 Dodge Ram Pickup. The A/C will work fine, sometimes. Sometimes it will not cool at all, at other times it will work great then stop working after driving 30-45 minutes. I swapped the A/C relay, no difference. Could the clutch be bad or is there a sensor or switch I'm Missing?

Answer
Hi Al,
I suspect that you are getting low on refrigerant. There is a sensor that defeats the actuation of the ac compressor clutch when there is not sufficient refrigerant in the system.
If you have a sight glass check to see if it show bubbles. If so, then you need to add refrigerant.
