Chrysler Repair: 1999 Chrysler Cirrus -Dragging rear disc brake, chrysler cirrus, 1999 chrysler cirrus

Question
The problem is that the right rear brake is not totally releasing and drags more than it should which causes the brake disc to be hotter (about 140 degrees) as compared to the other side which is about 100 degrees. The caliper has been changed as well the brake pads, the disc is in good shape. The parking brake has never been used.  What could be the causes?

Answer
Hi Traci,
That amount of temperature difference, 40 degrees, if based after just cruising along, is not very significant an amount of dragging.  Three things I can suggest are:
that the right disc is slightly warped compared to the one on the left (has the disc "runout" been checked with a dial indicator?),
or that the pins/abutments on which the caliper moves laterally is dirty/corroded such that the caliper is unable to move freely after the brake is released,
or that the rubber brake fluid line has a degraded inner lining which is resisting the back flow of fluid necessary to release the caliper's grip on the disc.
Please let me know if any of these suggestion 'bear fruit'.
