Chrysler Repair: 1997 LHS Ambient Air Temp Sensor, curiosity sake, ambient air temperature

Question
QUESTION: My LHS has aprx 132K miles.  I recently traveled to Phoenix from CA and my ac (which had been working fine) didn't seem to be blowing very cold air the day after I arrived.  I checked the system and my charge was fine.  Then I happened to notice that my outside air temp (displayed on the overhead console)is reading 75 when I am in 100+ degree weather.  After I drive a bit it seems to correct itself and reads about the correct temp(within a couple degrees).  My ac started blowing colder air without any corrective action on my part.  I am having difficulty locating the sensor and would just as soon change it since it's cheap.  Similar questions for the other LH models listed on the site haven't helped me locate it.  Would you be able to provide me with it's location?, or if you are aware of a different cause for this problem advise on my next step?  Thanks for your help.

ANSWER: there is nothing wrong with the sensor   it will not adj itself unless u are driving over 30mph for a few miles.

do u only get cold air when u drive  and not sitting still?

QUESTION: Thank you for your quick reply Kevin.  I am getting cold air when sitting as well.  (when it didn't seem to be very cold I was both driving and sitting)  It may be that it was having a hard time keeping up with the heat.

I would still like to know if you can tell me the location of the sensor for curiosity sake since I looked and looked for it and couldn't find any info on it's location.

I appreciate your time on this.

Answer
AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR
The ambient air temperature sensor is located on the inside of the left front bumper beam Ambient Sensor This sensor will inform the ATC system of the ambient temperature outside the vehicle. This sensor is used by the ATC system to adjust blower speed, temperature offsets, evaporator temperatures and mode control.

The ambient sensor is not serviceable and must be replaced if found to be defective.

If this sensor fails the ATC system will use the battery temperature information as a back up.

To test Ambient Temperature Sensor, refer to proper LH Body Diagnostic Manual.

REMOVAL
Remove sensor mounting screw.
Disconnect sensor wiring connector.
INSTALLATION
For installation, reverse the above procedures.
