Chrysler Repair: Chrysler sebring convertible 98: wont start, chrysler sebring convertible, throttle position sensor

Question
Hi Roland, I have a 98 sebring convertible that wont start or turn over. It just recently had a new transmission installed into it and soon after it stopped working? i just replaced the map sensor, im planning on the camshaft and crankshaft sensor next. i read somewhere that sometimes they stop recognizing the keys so i might have a new one made to test that out. i have 2 keys currently the other day i tried starting it and it wouldn't so i swapped keys and it started right up? then tried the next day and no luck.ive read what many other people have done to fix there cars and this is what they said. exhaust, crankshaft position sensor, cam sensor, throttle position sensor, torque solenoid, egc sensor, map sensor, and new keys. What do you recommend i do next.

Answer
Hi Danyal,
I would try to get a fault code readout of the engine control computer. I believe that the only way to do that is via a plug-in code reader which you can have done for free at an Autozone parts store or for about $40 at an independent shop. Get the 4-digit code numbers, what they mean, what they recommend and for how much. Then write back and we'll compare notes. Also, try the ignition key:'on-off-on-off-on and leave on' doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. The watch to see if any 4-digit numbers appear in place of the mileage in the odometer window. It may not work but give it a try.
If you have the sentry key immobilizer system (SKIS) then that too can be evaluated with the readout box, and also you can do some check on the electical function of the module located on the steering column where you insert the key. Let me know if you have a volt-ohm meter to do these tests. It certainly could be a flaky SKIS system that is making it impossible to start the car.
I would go the diagnostic approach rather than just randomly throwing parts at problem.
