Chrysler Repair: 1994 New Yorker 3.5L engine shut off and will not start, cam shaft, cam sensor

Question
1994 New Yorker 3.5L engine shut off and will not start. Problem has occurred intermittently for over a year but the car would always start right back up. After this last occurrence, the engine tuns over but will not start. I followed your instructions to a similar problem, as follows:
1) checked the fault codes and got a read out 125455
2) changed out the cam shaft sensor with a SU350/Duralast. I installed the sensor as directed. I did not remove the paper spacer and I torqued at 9 ft. lbs.
3) engine turns over but will not start
4) Re-checked fault codes and read out is the same 125455
HELP!

Answer
Hi Robert,
Did you disconnect the battery for a minute or so, which will erase the 54 code? Then try to start it again? If it comes back then the problem might be the tip is not pressed against the cam sensor, or the sensor is bad, or the wires are compromised, or the timing belt may have broken (remove the left side cam sproket cover to inspect the belt).
Let me know what you learn and we can go from there.
