Chrysler Repair: radiator fans: Breeze/Cirrus/Stratus, radiator fans, yellow violet

Question
The fans on my 96 plymouth breeze are not coming on. How do i know if the motors have burned out or if the coolant sensors need to be replaced. Any suggestions on what to check first?

Answer
Hi Trisha,
The first thing to check is fuse 19 (40 amp) in the power box in the engine compartment. That is the main power source for the fans. There is a ground wire from the fan module that goes to the left strut tower which also should be verified for connection. The temp  sensor should show a resistance between its terminals of 7-13,000 ohms when cold, and 700 to 1,000 ohms when the engine is warmed up to operating temperature. To check the fan motors you can jump a wire from the + post of the battery to the pins that connect to the yellow/violet or dark green/light green wires at the fan plugs, and also ground the pins that were connected to the black wires of the plugs which will complete the circuit to test each motor. Let me know if these suggestions don't prove fruitful.
