Chrysler Repair: 1995 Cirrus: no start, crank sensor, chrysler cirrus

Question
I have a 1995 chrysler cirrus. The other day after adding water to the radiator I attempted to start the car to move it. The car will not start. checked the starter and all basic components. Its wanting to turn over but has no "spark"(the best way to desribe). I was told to check the crank sensor. What would you advice.

Answer
Hi Christy,
Use your ignition key to get any fault codes that may be stored in the engine controlller that will give a clue as to what part has failed: "on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the check engine light, which remains 'on', to begin to flash (1 to 7 times), pause, flash (1 to 7 times), pause, etc. Count the number of flashes before each pause. Then repeat the process to be sure to get a repeatable set flash counts. Then combine counts in pairs in the order of appearance to form the two-digit fault code numbers. The last number will always be 55 which means 'end of readout'. Then write back with the numbers and we'll go from there, or you can go to www.allpar.com/fix/codes.html for a code translation. Finding a code that is applicable to a no start is the best way to proceed.
