Chrysler Repair: stalled 98 concorde, air intake hose, manual roland

Question
My 98 concorde stalled, and now will only run for a few seconds, maybe two or three. while it runs it sounds like a power servo or something under the dash. also while it runs I am unable to depress the gass pedal or it will stall out instantly. it gave no signs of this happening, the fuel pump is engaging when you turn the key so I am not sure it is a fuel problem, any suggestions

Answer
Hi Chris,
It would be good to examine the throttle body and its connecting cable to the brake pedal. It is possible that something related to the throttle valve has failed mechanically so remove the air intake hose and check the throat of the valve and the moveable plate. It may well be mechanically correct but dirty in such a way as to not meter the air as expected. Use solvent to clean the throat and both sides of the throttle plate and the small side passageway. If you can get it running then take it to an Autozone parts store where you can often get a free fault code readout, or to an independent garage where it might cost about $40. Ask for the 4-digit fault code numbers, what they mean, what they recommend, and for how much. Then write back and give me the results and we'll compare it to the shop manual.
