Chrysler Repair: 1994 Chrysler Concorde: no spark, crank pulley, pulley bolt

Question
QUESTION:  I own a 1994 Chrysler Concorde It has no spark and I replaced the crank censor and it still has no spark what could be the problem?

ANSWER: Hi Robert,
It could be the cam sensor, not the crank sensor. But to find out, check the fault codes:
Try for fault codes using the ignition key:"on-off-on-off-on and leave on, doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the check engine light, which remains 'on', to begin to flash, pause, flash, etc. Count the flashes between each pause, then do it again to be sure you have an accurate count set. Then group the numbers in pairs in the order of appearance to form the two-digit fault code numbers. The last number will always be 55, which means end of readout. Then write back with the numbers or go to www.allpar.com/fix/codes.html for a code translation list.

QUESTION:  We got the codes as 1355 or 355 sometimes were not getting a two digit code. Could it be the coil pack you think? If so can you please tell me how to check it.

ANSWER: Hi Robert,
The codes you got are either 13 55 or 12 55, neither of which relate to the spark issue. An 11 would be the crank sensor, a 54 would be a cam sensor. So give it one more try. You group the counts in pairs in the order of appearance so you aught to have an even number of flash counts to do that correctly.
On testing the coil, I would test the 4-wire plug at the coil to begin with: If you put the locking tab 'up', then the lower right pin should be the dark green/orange wire it is attached to should have 12V on it while you try cranking for 5 seconds. The other three pins (measured individually, compared to ground) should oscillate between infinite and O ohms resistance, once per revolution, while you turn the engine over by hand using a socket and handle on the crank pulley bolt with the ignition switch 'on'. Let me know what you find. If you get that sort of result, then the coil is suspect. But usually a code for a bad primary winding of the coil will be stored if that were the case (a code 43).

QUESTION:  Okay, I did it two more times and got 12 55 and 13 55...And i will check the coil as soon as i can but i got one other question..In the same car we changed transmission fluid and filter and then reverse quit working all to gether it dont make no noise it dont do anything but all other gears work just fine.

Answer
Hi Robert,
Are you sure you the trans full, and did you use ATF+4 type?
Don't overfill it, but be sure it reaches the full mark, while idling in park. There is also a fault code system for the transmission but you need a code reader and plug that matches the socket under the dash to read it. It is a OBD-I system and you need the Chrysler Data link connector plug to match the socket. You may have to go to an independent garage to get the codes from the transmission.
