Chrysler Repair: 2002 town and country ignition switch, negative battery cable, lock cylinder

Question
how do I replace the ignition switch on my 2002 town and country. The electronics are going haywire.

Answer
Hi Tony,
I hope everything worked out with the ignition switch problem. Please let me know by using the 'thank/rate' tab below.
While you are there, if I might ask a favor: where it asks about a 'nomination for expert of the month' I would appreciate your entering a 'yes'. I am in a close race for that honor so every vote counts!

Hi Tony,
My newest manual is the '98 but it probably applies to your '02:
Disconnect the negative battery cable
Remove the screws on the panel that is under the steering wheel and  includes the parking brake release handle. Then lower the panel and remove the cable from the handle
Remove screws holding the steering column shrouds (look underneath)
Remove the retaining screw on the upper corner of the switch on the left side of it (torx #10)
Look for tab(s) on the under surface of the ignition switch on the side that is closer to steering column. When you push in on the tab(s) it will allow the switch to release itself.
Remove the plugs

Install is the reverse.
It may be helpful to place the ignition key in the "run" position when you start the removal process, and note the position of the part of the ignition switch that meshes with the lock cylinder, when you remove it. Place the new switch's similar part in that same rotated position when you install it. If you have trouble getting the switch to mesh with the lock cylinder, then you could remove the lock cylinder (assuming that it is in the 'run' position) by pushing on a release tab for it on the side of the housing that holds the cylinder. Then install the switch (preset to be in the run position) and then re-install the cylinder, similarly in the 'run' position

PS Use the 'thank/rate' tab to get back with any questions, without having to wait for me to be 'available' to take a question. There is a space for comments to which I will respond. While you are there, please consider giving a 'yes' where you see the question about whether I deserve to be nominated as 'expert of the month'. Thanks in advance.
