Chrysler Repair: cluster removal: 98 town/country, instrument cluster, steering column

Question
how difficult is it to remove instrument cluster and can you provide detailed instructions, also are their any special tools needed?

Answer
Hi Michael,
I assume the prndl indicator is controlled electrically, otherwise let me know as the procedure is a little different.
No special tool needed. You begin by removing the main bezel that is surrounding the cluster.
Remove the steering column cover
Remove over steering column bezel
Remove left end cover of dash
Remove screw at left end of bezel and headlamp switch
Remove screws holding cluster bezel to instrument panel from each side of steering column
Disconnect strip holding cluster bezel to instrument panel from above right vent louver
Separate bezel from panel
Disconnect wires from back of bezel.
When installing take care not to push on louvers, and use care when reattaching clip to louver

Then remove screws holding instrument cluster to instrument panel
Rotate top of cluster outward
Remove cluster
Disconnect wire from rear of cluster.
Install is the reverse, put bottom in first, attach wire, then rotate top back into place.

PS Use the 'thank/rate' tab to get back to me with any further questions, without having to wait for me to be 'available' to take a question. There is a space for comments to which I will reply. While you are there, if this answer is helpful, I would appreciate your giving a 'yes' where you see the question about 'nomination'.
