Chrysler Repair: 1994 Eagle Vision A/C heat, electrical plug, eagle vision

Question
hi,
During this summer, my air conditioning broke. The belt started to slip on it. That's fine, but now it seems that the heat has something to do with the same parts. Is this so? I can hear the noise it makes so turn it off, not letting to slip. Fixing is not cheap I found out during the summer, but I would like to have heat! Any workaround?
Thanks

Answer
Hi Laszlo,
The one connection between heat and the a/c compressor is that when you ask for windshield defrosting that compressor is called into play. Air the has been cooled is more effective in remove moisture from the windshield is the reason. Your choice would be to unplug the compressor plug or not use the defrost position (which would then not even send warm air there, so that is probably not going to be practical). I would thus suggest that you pull the electrical plug at the compressor which will prevent the clutch from connecting it to the belt and thus the noise. The plug has a single wire (dark blue/black) and is black in color.
