Chrysler Repair: Hood Latch wont open, hood latch, release cable

how can I release the mechanism manually.  I can hear the cable working but it won't release

Hi Chris,
You have to get under the car and locate the latch mechanism, either in front of the radiator or behind the radiator depending upon the year and model. You will see a spring that returns the latch mechanism to the locked postition attacher to the latch. Push the flange to which theend of the spring is attached toward the driver's side of the car which will replicate the action of the release cable (which is now broken) and the hood should release. That is the only way to get it open put is should work if you have a light to see up there, and a long bar or screwdriver to push on the flange.
