Chrysler Repair: fuel pump replace: Sebring Convert., cable clamp, gas tank

Question
1998 sebring conv. fuel pump replace/do i need to drop the gas tank

Answer
Hi Dan,
Unfortunately you do have to drop the tank to replace the pump. But you begin by releasing the pressure in the system, after removing the remote - cable clamp at the strut tower to avoid sparks. Also start by removing the back seat so that you can remove the electrical cable from the pump. Also disconnect large rubber fill hose at rear of tank from tank, after draining it.  Disconnect fuel lines from pump module. Disconnect vapor lines from roll-over valve at rear of tank. Then support the tank on a floor jack and remove straps, pull the tank forward as you lower it so filler fitting clears the chassis.
Install is the reverse.
