Chrysler Repair: 2002 Intrepid SE, NO HEAT, heater hoses, mid body

Question
I think you must have heard this questions a million times. I even tried out some stuff that i found out online and still nothing.
The problems started when I went away for a week and came back the car battery was dead. So I managed to jump start it and the heater was not working. The fan/blower is working fine. I changed the coolant, and then got a mechanic to check the thermal-stat and he said it was good, but he told me that I should get a hot/cool switch from the dealer. i called them up and that is very expensive so i decided to google this problem, and found that this might be a problem with the computer in it. According to the instructions, I took Fuse #19 out for about a minute to reset everything. Unfortunately that didn't work either. Now I don't know what to do, and I have a good feeling that even if I change the Hot/cold switch that is not going to help. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

cheers

Answer
Hi Madusha,
How did things work out on the heating problem?
Earlier, last month, you asked me a question about that problem with your vehicle. Now I need to ask a favor of you. I am competing for the honor of being the "Expert of the Month" for December. You can help me by going the the 'thank/rate' tab below and look for the question that asks if you think I should be so-honored. If you would select the 'yes' option I would be most appreciative. Please do this before 6pm CST today, New Year's Eve when the competition ends. I wish that your Chrysler vehicle is running well and gives you good service in the New Year!

Hi Madusha,
The control panel has some self-diagnostic capablities, but to describe how you can get the information out I need to know first whether you have a unit that is conventional in its function or rather does it have automatic temp control with a digital temperature readout panel? Then we can go from there. Use the "thank/rate" tab to get back to me without having to wait for me to be available to take a question. There is a space for comments.
Also, the next time you have driven the vehicle for a while open the hood and find the too heater hoses that go thru the firewall around the mid-body area. Compare the temperature of the hoses by touch. If the coolant flow is good the hoses should be equally hot. Let me know if they are not so.

PPS The voting for 'expert of the month' ends Sunday afternoon. If you would be so kind as to find the "nomination?" area of the 'thank/rate' tab and change the 'no' to a 'yes' that would give a vote. Thanks
