Question
i have a 96 grand voyager that has a heating problem. The blower only blows on high and it only comes out the defrost. It does blow heat but if you try to switch to a different vent it wont.it has push button controls for vent selection with a light for each one so you know what it is set at all the lights are blinking where do i start to look???

Answer
Hi Douglas,
I am a little unclear about the '96 model year. The '95 has a vacuum switching system to operate the distribution doors, where as the '98 is electrical with motors. The control panel in the '95 has push buttons for the various outlets, whereas the '98 has a rotating know with detents for the various positions. Which way is yours set up? If it is like the '98 then there is a control panel calibration test you could try that goes like this:
CALIBRATION/DIAGNOSTICS TEST ENTRY
TO INITIATE TESTS:
Set Blower motor ON HIGH
Set Mode position to Panel
Open all A/C outlets
Set Temperature to Cold (Both slide pots if equipped)
Depress WASH and REAR WIPER button simultaneously for 5 Seconds (Until all LED's light)
RESULTS:
All LED's will turn on for 5 Seconds
Calibration Test is running when REAR WIPER and INTERMITTENT are alternately flashing. Cooldown test is running if A/C and RECIRC are alternately flashing.
Acceptable results is REAR WIPER LED is the only LED flashing. Push Rear Wiper to exit.
After all tests have passed, Calibration Diagnostics and Cooldown can be run separately.

As for the blower speed, that is due to a bad blower motor resistor block which is accessed from the engine compartment for replacement. If you look on the upper firewall, just below the windshield wiper motor on the passenger side you will see some square opening. Below one of the opening is a 5-wire plug that is attached to the block. If you pull the plug, and then reach through the opening with a flat blade screwdriver, then push on a sping-tang on the side of the block it will release the block from the opening into which it is mounted and allow you to pull it out. It might be more obvious if you bought the replacement block first. Replacing that will get you the multiple speeds back again. Make sure the individual resistors are not touching oneanother.

Sory for the delay, your question just appeared this morning in the question "pool".
