Chrysler Repair: 1995 Chrysler Concorde Self-Diagnostic Codes, 1995 chrysler concorde, chrysler concorde

Question
Hi, I recently bought a used 95 Chrysler Concorde and already the engine light is on.  Being that I'm a poor college student I decided to look up what could possibly be wrong and how much I should expect to pay to fix my car.  I found that you can get into a diagnostic mode by switching to accessory 3 times.  I did this and I believe I counted up to 16.  Now, I just can't seem to find a code list and I was wondering, if by any chance, you know what this code means.  I really hope to hear from ya and would very much appreciate your response.  Take care.

Answer
Hi Rosie,
Try it again, only this time notice that the light flashes, then pauses, then flashes, etc. Count the number of flashes before each pause and keep track of those counts; forget about the total number of counts. Once you have the individual groups of flashes counted, do it again to be sure you have an accurate set of flash counts. The last two groups of flashes will be always 5 in each. You then group those flash counts into pairs in the order that they appeared. The last two, being 5 in each, make that code 55, which simply means "end of code readout" which verifies that the process worked. So if we deduct those last total of 10 counts from your overall total of 16, that means that the earlier codes have to total to 6. The could be: 11 and a 13, or a 24, or a 33, or a 42, or a 51 depending upon when the pauses occured. So let me know what you get the second time around. You can get a code list as well from www.allpar.com/fix/codes.html but I can give you more details as to what to do.
Use the "thank/rate" tab to get back to me with the results without having to wait for me to be 'available' to take a question. Also tell me which size engine (L) is in the car.

Wow, that you for your rapid reply. I am truly grateful. Ok, I must have tried this a dozen of times and I believe I have the code 33. I see flash (pause) flash, flash (long pause) flash (pause) (flash) pause (flash) and then the last 2 sets of 5 flashes. What does this mean and is this a problem that should be fixed asap? Should I not drive around? Also, I noticed that there is windshield wiper fluid in the car but nothing seems to spray out when I try to use it. Is it possible for it to maybe be clogged?

Hi Rosie,
Thanks for the kind remarks and nomination.
I think you are close to have the answer but not quite. Because every code has 2 digits, each digit found by counting between pauses, you should have 6 different flash counts to get three code numbers. What I infer from what you told me is: 1,2,1,1,1,5,5 for a total of 7 numbers. So do try it one more time.
The 12 code is fine, it is typical and not of major concern it just says that the battery was disconnected from the circuit some time in the past 100 key on-of cycles. The 55 is fine as explained above. The three ones are the problem: that if correct has to be 12 (but that would be dulplicative), or 21 which say that one of the two Oxygen sensors mounted on the exhaust manifolds is not producing a signal. But give it one more try before we go further. Let me know.
