Chrysler Repair: Water in Trunk: Lebaron convert., rubber flap, window areas

Question
1994 Chryler Lebaron GTC (Convertible)
Carpet is wet after rain. Trunk weatherstripping is fine.
Any ideas?

Answer
Hi Mark,
Yes, the convertible top and 1/4 window areas tend to allow water to drip down into the bottom of the window mechanism area. On the outside of the body, on the underside in the area between the front of the wheel well and door opening you should find a rubber flap which covers a drain hole that if "open" allows that collected water to drain out. So look/feel in that area for the flap/opening and then use a wire or fine cable to clean out the opening so the water can drain freely. Check on both sides. Keep it open in the future. You probably have an overflow that has touched the carpeting in the trunk which explains the source.
