Chrysler Repair: 1990 Imperial: theft alarm non-disarm?, starter motor, forum thanks

Question
My sisters car wouln't run for 2 months because the alarm was sent and wouldn't reset.  I read you forum (thanks so much for having it!) and was able to ground her system and turn off the alarm.  Then she went to start it. It turns over but doesn't continue to run. Seems like it might not be getting fuel.  Sincer her tank was extremely low, we put in 10 gallons, hopeing that was the problem.  Still did not work.  Could this still be a problem from the alarm?

Answer
Hi Davina,
If it starts and runs for a couple of seconds, yes that could be the normal function of the theft alarm. Try the grounding process again. Only after you do that, assuming it will then run normally, you can disconnect the alarm system entirely by pulling the plug out of the theft module BUT:DO NOT PULL THE PLUG UNLESS THE ENGINE IS RUNNING WHEN YOU PULL THE PLUG. If it still won't start at all (but the starter motor cranks the engine over) then do a code readout using the ignition key:"on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the check engine light which remains "on" to begin to flash, pause, flash, etc. Count the number flashes before each pause, then repeat to be sure you have an accurate set of counts. Then tell me the counts in the order of appearance and we can go from there. Let me know what size engine is in the car.
