Chrysler Repair: 1998 Chrysler, independent shop, question thanks

Question
My wife's 98 T&C sounds, when cold, like a diesel engine or lawn mower in my opinion. She describes it as "rough". It is more noticeable when accelerating than just idling or normal driving. Once the car has been running a while the sound is much quieter and less noticeable. I have changed the oil, oil filter and air filter. The spark plugs were changed about a year and a half ago. Should I change them again? Thanks for any help.

P.S.
It also starts, idles for a few seconds, then dies with all the power still own. This has only happened to her on a couple of occasions and I have found some of your other posts pertaining to this problem. Just mentioning it in case it may have to do with my above question. Thanks again.

Answer
Hi Michael,
Sounds are hard to describe and to imagine. I would suggest doing a fault code readout which you can often get for free at an Autozone parts store, or for $40 at an independent shop. Get the fault code number(s), ask what they indicate, what should be done, and for how much. Then write me back and we can compare that to the Chrysler shop manual for that code(s). This is the way to start toward a solution without guessing,
Roland
