Chrysler Repair: headlamp door 89 lebaron, motor mechanism, ebay

Question
I am unable to keep the doors closed, the will close than fall back down, unable to find anything on this in any repair manuals.  Is there a way to syncronize the door assemble, have repaired the motor and it is working.

Answer
Hi Larry,
If you have replaced the three bushings in the motor and that is now working properly, then it is a matter of the the sleeve at the end of the rod at each end having to be a backed off and then you will find that it was attached to a collar that has a set screw. That set screw may be loose or just out of adjustment relative to the sleeve.  I can xerox copy and mail you the pages from the '89
Chrysler shop manual that shows these details. This would apply if the rod is being properly driven but the doors are not in alignment with one another or are slipping independently. If the rod is slipping in the drive motor mechanism but the doors are synchronized then you have to replace the bushing inside the motor. They are available from eBay seller: rsreinhart.
