Chrysler Repair: 97 Breeze/ Cirrus/Sratus: cowl cover, chrysler cars, plymouth breeze

Question
I have a 97 Plymouth breeze and the plastic paneling just under my wiper is all broken up. It looks like some sort of a vent. I think it is called a Wiper Cowl Vent Panel. Do you know what the correct name is and where i can buy a new one from? I noticed other Plymouth and Chrysler cars and vans with the vent.  I can send a picture, if necessary. Thanks.

Answer
Hi Jon,
That piece is called the "cowl cover". I would believe you can get a replacement at a Chrysler dealer.  I don't know if any aftermarket vendors sell the equivalent piece. You could check at a body shop where they likely have catalogs that describe the part number and cost of the part and the year models that are interchangeable.  You may find one at a wrecking yard so that would be another possibility and it would probably be the same piece as used on the Cirrus and Stratus. All you have to do is remove the wiper arms and then there are a couple of screws on either end to remove and that is all it takes. To remove the wipers, remove the cap at the pivot (gently snap), then remove the retention nut, then gently rock end from side to side to enable you to slide the end off the pivot. You may want to raise the hood on the left side slightly to gain access. Intall is reverse, tighten nut to 30 foot-pounds.
