Chrysler Repair: Chrysler 94 3.5 V6: no start when hot, crank sensor, cam sensor

Question
Now that the weather is warmer, twice when the car was hot, it wouldn't start right away, only it had cooled down. Is this the crank sensor?
Thanks

Answer
Hi Arlen,
It might be the crank sensor but the only way to find out quickly is to try the ignition key:"on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the check engine light, which remains on, to begin to flash, pause, flash, etc. Count the number of flashes before each pause. Then repeat to verify an accurate flash count. Then group the numbers in pairs in the order of appearance to form the 2-digit fault codes. The last one is always 55 which means "end of readout". If you get a code 11 then that is a crank sensor, if you get a code 54 then that is a cam sensor. You can get the meaning of other codes at www.allpar.com/fix/codes.html

Let me know if you want more specifics for the codes you get.
