Chrysler Repair: 96 Dodge Caravan: blower operates on high only, heater AC blower motor high speed

Question
I have a 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.3 L that the AC/heater blower will only operate on high. Should I replace the control panel module or could it be something different.

Answer
Hi James,
No, what you have there is a problem with the blower motor resistor block. It is under $30 for the part. It is located in the air intake plenum which is the tunnel under the external grille in front of the windshield. Look under the wiper motor for its location on the passenger side of the van You get to it through the engine compartment where you will see there are square openings in the front of the plenum. Next to one of the openings you will see a 5 wire plug which is for the block. You reach thru the opening and using the tip of a screwdriver push horizonally against a clip on the driver side of the block to release it. Note the 'top' side indicator when installing. Alto separate the resistors gently if any are touching oneanother.
