Saab: Excessive exhaust emission, blown head gasket, exhaust emission

Question
I have a 1992 saab Turbo 16v s which has recently been blowing out smoke from the exhaust when travelling slowly. it is quite excessive.any ideas as to what is causing it?it also seems to be suffering from a lack of power.

Answer
Sounds like you have a failed head gasket. There are many possibilities as to the cause. They can range from general age, excessive heat to overfilling the engine oil.
If it is a blown head gasket, your engine will likely want to overheat on you due to the coolant being exposed to the exhaust. The lack of power may additionaly be affected by the coolant getting in the exhaust and plugging your catalytic convertor.

Good luck,
