Chrysler Repair: 1997 Chrysler Sebring convertible AC in op, chrysler sebring convertible, chrysler sebring

Question
QUESTION: I am attempting to troubleshoot and repair the AC on my friends car. I have the gauges, vac pump, freon, digital scale etc. and have repaired other systems but Mopar is new to me as I have GM products. I brought the car home and checked with gauges but the compressor will not engage. My static pressure is 120 on the low and 125 on the high. I checked for voltage at the HP side pressure sensor and had about 4.9v and then tried to jump the sensor plug but still no joy on getting the compressor started. Checked fueses in engine bay and all good. Swapped AC relay no joy. Where do I start if I cant get the compressor started? Thank you for any help you can provide. I am learning AC as I am tired of getting my you know what handed to me when repair time comes around so with a van with rear air I needed to learn. I am an aircraft structural mechanic in the Coast Guard and have been doing one or more forms of AC repairs for years but auto is new. Please help me help a friend with this repair. The car only has 24K. They are old folks. No apparant leaks at line connections. Have not looked at the compressor as it is under the car. Is there a low side switch somewhere else.

ANSWER: jump the ac relay and see if the compressor will come on   what u are doing is seeing if u have a control prob with the relay or a compressor issue  like the clutch is worn out.  Pin 30 and 87.

QUESTION: Is the pins on either the small black relay in the fuse box panel under the hood marked with the numbers 30 & 87 on the box body or the relay underside? If the clutch is bad can I use my clutch puller to remove and replace the clutch or will the entire compressor need to be replaced.  On GM you can at times remove just the clutch without servicing the system with the puller and install a new one with the same tool.  Is that possible.

Answer
flip the relay over and there will be a pin out on there and match it to the pins on the fuse box   some times u can do the clutch it self  juts need a puller like U said  I dont have a puller set because chrysler does not sell the clutches by them self so it would more then likely be aftermarket .
