Chrysler Repair: 1995 chrysler cirrus lx, neutral safety switch, chrysler cirrus

Question
I drove my car today and I came home stopped it put it in gear.  And when I came back out to go somewhere the car will not start.  Its cranking over but its like there is no gas getting to it.  The car ran very good before this happened this morning.  The only thing else is wrong with the car is the back drivers side wheel is needed barrings and it roars a little more everyday but I don't believe that it what happened to it today.  Someone sayed it could be my neutral safety switch would you please tell my were that is on the car.

Answer
Hi Coy,
Neither the bearing nor the neutral safety switch will keep the engine from starting if the starter motor will indeed crank it over. More likely there is something related to the ignition system/engine sensors that control spark/injection/mixture. The routine way to find out it if is something like that is to obtain a readout of any fault codes that may be stored in the memory of the engine controller.
You can get a partial readout of the codes using the ignition key::"On-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less. Then watch the check engine light, which remains "on", to begin to flash, pause, flash, etc. Count the number of flashes before each pause, then repeat the readout to assure an accurate set of counts. The last two sets of flashes will be 5 in each. If you combine the numbers in pairs in the order of appearance you then will have any 2-digit fault codes. The last will always be 55 because it is the code for 'end of readout'. You can then either write back with the codes, or go to www.allpar.com/fix/codes.html for a list of codes.
If there are no codes other than 55, then I would verify whether I had spark or not. I can tell you how to do that when you write back.
