Chrysler Repair: Accessory pulley interchangability: 2.2/2.5L 4 cyl, bolt holes, bolt pattern

Question
I have an 87 Lebaron Turbo 1 that needs an accessory pulley. We found a 5 bolt pulley (not realizing the original was a four bolt), is there a combination of new pulley/crankshaft sprocket that is still available that will work on this engine? If I need to shim to align the pulleys that would b OK.

Answer
Hi Lloyd,
I have been looking at my shop manuals for the 2.2/2.5L engines and cannot be sure if the 4 bolt pattern was used up to a certain year and the a 5 bolt superceded it; but it appears the 4 bolt was used in '88 (and therefore probably '87) because an '88 parts manual I have says there are 4 bolts used to secure the pulley. BUT my own '89 2.5L non-turbo is 5 bolt. So maybe what you found was off of an '89 2.5L engine.
The sprocket part numbers are different for the 2.2 and 2.5 engines (according to an '88 parts manual I have but doesn't show number of bolt holes). Your turbo I is a 2.5L engine, correct?.
The only difference in pulley width design is whether or not the engine is equipped with an AC compressor.
You may need to go to a parts counter at a dealer to sort this one out. You may just need an earlier year pulley.
