Chrysler Repair: fizing ac compressor, dodge ram 2500, orifice tube

Question
i have a 98 dodge ram 2500 v-10 and i am repalcing the ac compressor. i already have a new accumulator and new orifice tube to put in, but what do i have to do to the system before i install the new compressor (ex. evacuating the lines?) what else is needed to get my ac running. i dont want to spend $700 on a shop doing it. i am experienced in fixing my vechile, just not to much in ac!

Answer
yeah u will haft to get all the old freon out  and then replace what U are going to. Then get cans or what ever u have in your local parts store to charge up the system back. There is a sticker on the hood to tell u how many LBS to put in.
One other note make sure u have the correct about of oil in the new compressor  or U will be doing it all over again. Some come with oil in it  some dont.
