Chrysler Repair: 94 Concorde wont shift when cold outside, fluid pressures, transmission controller

Question
MY 94 Concorde doesn't shift into reverse when it's really cold out, unless the transmission is good and warm(after driving it for a while), will go into drive usually but not always right away. Sometimes it won't shift out of 1st gear either until warm. Got the fluid changed last year and didn't help.

Answer
Hi Marc,
It could have something to do with internal hydraulic fluid pressures being too low due to a weak fluid pump, or even not enough fluid (but don't over fill, use only ATF +4 if needed). I assume the filter was changed when the fluid was changed, it not, that would be a possible explanation for low pressure.
Other then that, a fault code readout at a dealer using the older code reader (DRB II) might give an indication of what else could be wrong. Let me know if you get any fault codes. The readout has to be done using the blue data link connector under the dash to the right of the steering column in order to access the transmission controller.
Is the idle speed at least 750-800 rpm when cold? Too low a speed will also cause delayed ability to shift.
