Chrysler Repair: battery change 1995 cirrus, chrysler cirrus, plastic screws

Question
can you give me detailed steps to change the battery on a 1995 Chrysler Cirrus?, it does not seam to be a straight forward as my previous cars... thank you!!!

Answer
Hi Ashley,
The manual says you can change it without removing the tire/wheel.* Then, be sure the ignition switch is off but in the unlocked position. Then remove the (-) cable from the location on the left strut tower. Then turn the steering wheel to the full left position. Then turn the 4 plastic screws on the battery shield 1/4 turn to release the shield for removal. Then remove (-) cable from the battery, then the (+) cable. Remove bolt that holds battery hold down strap to bracket. Then remover the bolt at the battery bracket itself. Then lift the battery slightly and remove toward the rear, over the lip of the tray.
Replacement is the reverse.
*The Haynes manual suggests that you in fact jack up the left front wheel and remove it to get easier access. I can't advise you on which way to go, so try it first without, and if there is not enough space, then remove the wheel.
