Chrysler Repair: 2001 Chrysler LHS, Blinking dash lights., 2001 chrysler lhs, chrysler lhs

Question
Every time I turn on my head lights the interior dash lights blink.
This lasts up to 5 minutes at a time.
Any idea what could be causing this?

Answer
Hi Darryl,
The dash lights are controlled by the variable dimmer resistor on the headlamp switch and the wires that connect it to the body computer which is located on the rear side of the fuse box under the dash (the black-colored plug, one of four). I would try varying the intensity using the dimmer control to see if that might be flakey. Otherwise the only other possibility for correction would be if there were a leak of water from the windshield dripping down on the black plug. You could remove the plug and spray the sockets and pins (19 and 21) associated with that plug with electronic circuit cleaner spray.
If those don't work, then it pretty much has to be an electronic issue internal to the body controller itself which is probably not worth replacement for this minimal an issue.
