Chrysler Repair: lights on 91 spirit, viper remote start, daytime running lights

Question
I have 91 spirit 4 cyl that the head lights stay on all the time. It is equipped with daytime running lights. There is also a viper remote start system tyed in but according to them it willnot affect the lights. when key is turned off the lights stay on and you cant change high beam to low any more ether

Answer
Hi Rick,
I suspect that the "optical horn" switch associated with headlamp hi/lo beam lever on the steering column is stuck in the "on" position. You can check that by looking at the red/orange wire coming out of the steering column at pin 20 of the multiwire disconnect at the base of the column. It should not have any voltage on it unless you try the optical horn position, which causes the highs to come on as long as you hold it there. If that is not the problem, then a failure of the daytime running lamp module or a short of that same wire to 12V due to insulation damage is another possibility.
