Chrysler Repair: 1996 Plymouth Voyager: abs warning light on, plymouth voyager, 1996 plymouth voyager

Question
good after noon i have a 96 plymouth voyager mini van i have to go get it inspected today but the abs light is on is there any way for me to turn it off so i can pass.i had a buddy change my breaks and roters thats when the abs light came on did he break something please help and thank you kindly

Answer
Hi Eli,
I suspect that in changing the rotors that one of the nearby wheel speed sensors was damaged, which would set the light. These are fairly fragile items so that is the more likely cause. I would not try to turn off the light, which is at best a bad idea, but rather have the memory of the  abs control unit readout to ascertain which wheel sensor has been damaged and then to replace it. That will restore the abs, turn off the light, and allow you to not fail the inspection on that basis. If necessary postpone the inspection to get the readout and repair done, rather than waste your time and money on a failed inspection. The built-in abs warning system is very robust and will not allow tampering.
