Chrysler Repair: VAN WONT START: 93 3.3L, crank sensor, dodge caravan

Question
I HAVE A 1993 DODGE CARAVAN WITH A 3.3. IT IDLED ROUGH THEN JUST QUIT. I'VE REPLACED THE COMPUTER, CAM SENSOR, CRANK SENSOR, COOLANT SENSOR STILL WON'T START. REPLACED THE EGR VALVE AND IT RAN FINE FOR ABOUT A WEEK. NOW IT WON'T START AGAIN. COULD IT BE THE SPEED SENSOR OR SOMETHING ELSE? THIS HAS BE GOING ON FOR ALMOST 10 MONTHS NOW. PLEASE HELP ME ASAP.

Answer
Hi Don,
Have you based your replacements on a fault code readout? If not: "on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that with the ignition key in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the check engine light to begin to flash, pause, flash, etc. Count the number of  flashes before each pause. Then repeat for accuracy. Group the counts in pairs to form the two digit fault codes. Go to www.allpar.com/fix/codes.html for a translation.
I note that the egr replacement seemed to solve it, for a week. Have you checked that the stem of the valve is now in the fully closed position? If it isn't that will make if difficult if not impossible to start. That is always a prime suspect for rough idle and refusal to start.
A large vacuum leak could also do it.
But see about the codes and the egr and then let me know.
