Chrysler Repair: 1990 chrysler 3.3 belt tensioner, pulley bolt, belt tensioner

Question
I've read previous responses. I accessed belt tensioner from underneath vehicle
with one splash guard off. When I turned pulley bolt clockwise it feels like I'm
over tightening it or stripping it and tensioner didn't move to remove belt.

Answer
Hi Kent,
It may be the case that the belt routing and tensioner in that time frame were the reverse of what was discussed on previous postings (that did happen with the 3.0L engine in the 90's). I don't have a specific manual for that early a year so I can't verify this, but I would suggest you try rotating the pulley bolt counter clockwise. Please let me know what you learn.
