Chrysler Repair: 2000 Chrysler T&C Ignition Switch or Actuator, stop gap, empty cylinder

Question
when I turn the key the ignition switch doesn't turn the motor over without some jiggling the key just right.  I took out the lock cylinder and it looks like it works correctly.  I stuck a wide bladed screwdriver in the empty cylinder depressing the tab to turn the ignition switch and it was doing the same thing.  I replaced the ignition switch and it didn't fix it.  Seems like the actuator shaft is worn or something?  Any thoughts?  Should I replace the lock cylinder or is it the actuator shaft?  It looks like a pain to replace the actuator shaft if that is the problem.

Answer
Hi Todd,
I've had several inputs on this problem in the T&C type vans and they seem to point to the lock cylinder rather than the actuator or ignition switch. Some even recommend tapping on the end of the key with a hammer as the stop gap measure. If you can access the question of 7/24/07 on an "ignition key" problem in my previously answered question list you will see that question and several follow-up comments from other owners on this problem.
