Nissan Repair: 1982 sentra engine swap, auto tranny, dirt tracks

Question
I have an '82 sentra that i race on dirt tracks. I found an '89 that has the same engine. My car has a five speed standard tranny and the other car has an auto tranny. My car doesn't have anything in it as far as electrical work. The harness has been stripped out. everything extra has been removed. If I drop this '89 motor in, will it bolt to my tranny or will i have to swap the tranny also? also will the new motor mounts match up? what would I have to add or take away?
any help you could give me would be great.

Answer
Charley,

The engine will fit and you could use your transmission if you get a pilot bushing to fit the new engines crank.  The harness should be sourced from the new car since yours is gone.  I would put both engines side by side and make sure you get everything you need from the old engine since some sensors and unique parts for a given year are different on each.
