Chrysler Repair: Jeep Grand Cherokee 2003 BCM, jeep grand cherokee, body control module

Question
QUESTION: My Body Control Module (BCM) is going bad and have a new one that I ordered.
Does this unit have to be re-programmed for my car to start/run and for the
remote to work? I tested the new one and my engine didn't seem to want to
catch - starter worked, however.

ANSWER: why would u need to replace the BCM  and do u have a gray key?

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: Because I was told it was bad by my electrical shop - there are a bunch of
symptoms: AC not working , headlights out. What is a gray key? And again: Does
this unit have to be re-programmed for my car? Or does it just interact with the
rest of the electronics and work when you plug it in?

Answer
whats wrong with your ac? whats wrong with the head lights?
IF u had a gray key that means u have a key that would need to be programed to the jeep if  u replace the BCM. The bcm would not require a program that I can remember  not at least for the vin or anything.
