Chrysler Repair: 2002 Plymouth Voyager P0705 error code, plymouth voyager, signal circuit

Question
I have an '02 Plymouth Voyager showing error codes P0700 and P0705 (transmission solenoid) - engine dies at low speed (kind of like it shifts into park)- what is the likely problem and are these parts I can replace myself -- thanks

Answer
Hi Paul,
The manual I have says that 0705 code has to do with a problem of the transmission range selector/shifter signal
circuit, not the solenoid, but this is based upon a '00 Avenger manual which may be different from your situation. However, based on what you describe as the problem it seems it might apply. There is a range sensor in the trans that communicates its position to the TCM. There is either a problem with that or the plug/harness connection. It can be serviced without removing the transmission but you would want to have a manual for specific directions as to the electrical diagnostic tests that are appropriate.
