Chrysler Repair: Cam sensor 93 Intrepid, crank sensor, cam sensor

Question
I have a 93 Intrepid with a 3.5. Stalled while getting on to the highway (about 80 miles from home). Would not start. I went back the next day and it started right up. Injectors were "clacking" very loudly.Ran for about 10 minutes and quit. Would not restart.I checked to see if it was getting gas. Seems to be ok. Could this be the cam sensor and if so where is it and how hard is it to change?

Answer
Hi Al,
There are two sensors that are possibly involved, one for the cam one for the crank. Do a code readout: ignition key
"on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch check engine light which remains on to begin to flash, pause, etc. Count the number of flashes before each pause. Then repeat to be sure you have an accurate count set. Group the counts in order of appearance to form two-digit fault codes. The last code is always 55 meaning 'end of readout'. Then write back or go to www.allpar.com/fix/codes.html for a decoder. The 11 code says the crank sensor is bad, the 54 code says the cam sensor is bad. Let me know the codes and I'll tell you about the fix.
