Chrysler Repair: 94 chrysler lhs power antenna, stationary antenna, chrysler lhs

Roland - My power antenna quit working and with it ,the radio . I figured i'd just replace it with a stationary antenna. I wired it up (2 left over power wires and antenna cable) and it works perfectly... for 5 minutes, then nothing. I connect the 2 wires that went to the power antenna and it works again for 5 minutes. I can't figure this out, it seems that the radio must be looking for some kind of electrical feedback from the antenna and when it doesn't get it, cuts out.Iv'e never seen anything like this, any ideas????

Hi John,
The dark/green red wire goes to the amp in the trunk, pin 1 and to pin 1 of the radio black plug pin 1. But exactly what that does is something I need to figure out. I take it that you didn't change the radio or the amp, correct? Did you verify that the black wire is still grounded?  I will study this some more and try to figure it out. I'll add to the answer when I come up with something.
