Chrysler Repair: 95 LHS wont start:not getting power to fuel pump, 1995 chrysler lhs, chrysler lhs

Question
my 1995 Chrysler LHS, died will not start, dealer put in new battery, ran for two days, we replaced fuel pump, but power is not getting to fuel pump, checked fuses and relays. What do we do now, need help

Answer
Hi Aurelia,
I assume you are aware the when you turn the key to the "run" position that the fuel pump will only operate for 1 second and then again when you go to the "starter" position when you won't be able to hear it. That is normal. So if you truly don't have fuel pump action, then verify fuse A in the power distribution center, and just to be sure you can check under rear seat where you will find an 8 wire natural color disconnect where a dark green/black wire is the one to check for the presence or absence of 12V when you are cranking the engine. It goes right to the fuel pump from that point. If you don't have it, then either the fuel pump relay is bad or the circuit that controls its actuation coil is bad. The actuation circuit needs fuse #18 under the dash to be OK and there also has to be a signal from the computer that there are indeed pulses coming from the crank and cam sensors (that the engine is turning over). I would therefor check the engine controller memory to see if that is the case:
turn the key "on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Watch the check engine light to begin to flash, pause, flash, etc. Count the number of flashes before each pause. Repeat for accuracy. Then combine the counts in pairs in the order of appearance to form the 2-digit fault codes. The code 11 or 54 would mean the crank or cam sensor, respectively, are not working. 55 will always be the last code which means end of readout.
So try all that and let me know what you learn. I hope this will resolve your problem.
