Chrysler Repair: A/C pressure switch, eagle vision tsi, discharge pressure

Question
96 Eagle vision TSI 3.5 liter V6. A/C clutch won't start after car sits awhile. If I jump the clutch relay and start it, it will continue to run when I replace the relay. Shut car off, restart immediately, comp runs. Wait a while, no start. Low side pressure is 50-60 psi when comp will not start. Pressure switch bad? Or is system overfilled? Oper pressure seems normal. I cannot find what the normal low side upper pressure limit (cutoff) should be. Even dealer can't tell me.

Answer
Hi George,
The proper charge range (comp discharge pressure as a function of liquid line temp) is shown graphically in the shop manual. Your reading of 50-60 is correct if the temp is about 40F on that line. When the line is at 100F which would feel neutral to you, the pressure is supposed to be between 155 and 195 psi. So maybe try that approach to determine if you are in the correct range. I don't see a spec for the limit switch, either.
