I can see why the labor cost might have shocked you. (How much was the estimate)?
I have the shop manual for the car and it shows the procedure is about 15 steps to get to the switch for removal. It would be difficult to do without the manual pages. If you want to do it yourself I will be pleased to xerox and postal mail you the pages that show how it is done. It only requires modest tools to do the job.
As to the cost of the switch, you can of course check the parts department of Chrysler dealers and it may also be available at auto parts stores at a lower cost. So do some comparison shopping.
