Chrysler Repair: 1999 Sebring Convertible wont start, 4 digit numbers, radiator leak

Question
I have a 1999 sebring convertible, the check engine ight came on after it overheated and shut off because of a radiator leak. Recently it started to sputter and shut off when at a stop light/sign. I tried to reset my computer by disconnecting the possitive on the battery, I reconnected but when I tried to start the car it wouldn't start. There is no power in the car but the headlights are working. There is no turn over in the ignition. What could be the problem? thank You.

Answer
Hi Irving,
If by "no power" in the car and "no turn over in the ignition" you mean that the starter motor won't operate, then I would begin by re-checking the battery clamps, and if those are ok and you do hear a "click" when you try the started then the battery is probably too weak. If on the other hand, you don't get a click, then I would suspect that something has gone wrong with the engine computer. Try turning the ignition key:"on-off-on-off-on and leave on", doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the odometer window to see if the mile reading change to show any 4-digit numbers. Tell me those numbers and we'll go from there. If nothing changes at the odometer, then you will need to get a code reader plugged in under the dash to see if the computer is the cause of your problem or something else.
