Chrysler Repair: 98 Chrysler T & C Rear seat warm, air distribution system, front doors

Question
Hi Roland, We have 98 LXI and the right rear captians seat gets warm.  I looked under the van and made sure the rear heater lines are not touching the frame.  The hangers are in place.  The muffle sheild is in place.  I even added insulation between the heater lines and frame and the problem has not improved. The problems seems to have developed over the last couple of months.  What should I be looking for?  Thank you.

Answer
Hi Curt,
I just have the '98 shop manual to use and I don't see any heat source under the seat or in the seat (there are heated seats available for the front seats). I do notice however that the air distribution system includes ducts within the front doors that have outlets at the rear edge of the door that direct cool air  (a/c outlet) just below the window and heated air at an outlet at the lower rear corner of the door. That corner outlet may be blowing warm air on the rear seat as you are driving and thus heating the seat unexpectedly. There is supposed to be adjustable air flow controls for those two outlets so check the owner's manual.
That is my only suggestion as to the source.
Roland
