I would appreciate your opinion. Again I have a 2001 chrylser sebring lxi 2.7L

Answer
Hi Leilani,
The manual gives this action:
"Using the schematics as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors. Repair as necessary. Pay particular attention to all power and ground circuits. If there are no possible causes remaining, then replace the transmission control module. After replacement:perform the quick learn procedure and program the pinion factor (this is to identify the proper final drive gear ratio to give accurate shifting and speedometer/odometer readings.)"
Basically it says check the external wiring and if nothing is wrong with that then the problem is internal to the controller and can't be repaired.
So I would recommend that your friend do the inspection of the wiring and connectors from the present transmission to the controller. I have the pin numbers and wire colors for the 2.7L controller if he would have an ohmmeter or continuity testor and would like to verify the power and ground wires are patent. Let me know.
Otherwise if it passes the inspections, it does look like a new/used controller is in order.
