Chrysler Repair: 300M Radio Reset, body control module, independent shop

Question
I know that this is out of your year range, btu I have a question about my 2001 300M radio.  I recently changed the battery and the radio has stopped working.  The lights on the equalizer just blink.  Is there a way to reset the radio?  What could be the problem?

Answer
Hi Bill,
I just looked into a '98 manual for the vans which points out that the radios that year were all 'mediated' by the body control module which communicates to the radio digitally on the data bus. This opens up another possible reason for the failure of the radio to operate in you 300M. The body computer can be queried as to whether it is 'seeing' the radio which may then tell you why it isn't working. You will need to get a diagnostic readout box type of readout of the data bus to get this information. So go to a dealer or an independent shop for that service. Let me know what you learn about the situation. It's interesting how complications mount with new technology.

Hi Bill,
Sorry to say I don't have a manual that is very near in time to that of your 300M. However, there are usually about 4 fuses (in the '94 LHS they were # 2,8,9,13 and breaker #23) and a circuit breaker in the audio systems so it would be worth looking over all the underdash fuses to see that all the ones assigned to the radio are o.k. You might want to just check them all. Other than that I don't know of any reset requirement or procedure.
