Chrysler Repair: rought idle: Tibouron, manual roland, vacuum problem

Question
My 2000 Tiburon has a rough idle. The rpm is steady at 700, drives ok. I have brought it to 2 dealers and to Midas. First dealer completed a tune up and replaced timing belt. Midas found nothing. Had oil changed and replaced all fluids (transmission & coolant) and cleaned the injectors. The last dealer I brought it to look at it for 2 days. They have checked the engine mounts, completed vacuum test (found a small vacuum problem which they fixed), spark plugs, ignition coil, computer found no errors, I am not sure what else that have check but they say they call the Hyundai engineers and checked everything they suggested. The only thing they found is that the clutch is worn and this might be causing the problem. Is the possible? I do not want to spend an other $750 and still have the vibration.

Answer
Hi Joanna,
If the idle is rough, in neutral, that has nothing to do with the clutch, nothing at all. I am not familiar with the engine in that Tibouron, can you tell me the size (displacement and cylinder number). Other than checking the engine controller for fault codes it may have recorded (which they did already) the only other thing that can commonly cause rough idle is a stuck ajar exhaust gas circulation valve. That will lean the mixture and cause rough idle if that is the problem. But I can't tell you how to find it in order to check it unless you tell me the engine and I happen to have the shop manual for it. It would be quite easy to check it or have a shop check it in any case. So let me know, particularly if it is a Chrysler engine. If not, then I wouldn't have the manual.
